About us

Madrasa development community - Nungwi province is a non-governmental organization that was established at the beginning of 2005 through 4 founding madrasas, and at that time, the union was called "UNITY OF QURAN SCHOOLS". After that, the movement moved forward, and the union expanded its work of management and teaching, child care as well as developing teachers, due to the profit, various madrasas joined the union, and until now, this union has a number of member madrasas. 15 from Nungwi, Kilindi, Muwambale, Kigunda, Tazari, Kilimani and Kidoti. Due to the increase in the number of members as well as the daily work of this institution, the leaders of the community, through a general meeting, decided to change the name of the community, which is currently called the QURAN CLASS DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY or in a native language "Jumuiya ya Kuendeleza Madrasa Jimbo la Nungwi (JKM)" .

JKM is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Islamic education in Zanzibar, our organization is driven by a deep commitment to promoting excellence in Islamic education while embracing the values of tolerance, diversity, and progress.

At JKM, we believe that education is the key to empowering individuals and communities. Our mission is to transform Islamic Madrasas in Zanzibar, creating an inclusive, modern, and enriching learning environment that equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.

The Main Objects

  • Connecting, promoting unity and relationship between teachers and students of madrasas in the area.
  • raising the educational potential of young people so that they can join various colleges inside and outside our country.
  • To collaborate with the community and various institutions in bringing up young people morally according to the religion, traditions and customs of the country.
  • To raise awareness and educational talents for young people and mothers so that they can participate in emerging opportunities.
  • To prepare mothers and fathers to be the best guardians of the community as well as to manage well with their generations.
  • To support the Government and society in general against the evil acts of moral destruction that bring shame to our Nation and breach of Peace, such acts include and alcoholism, drug abuse, theft, violence etc.
  • To enable young people to cope well with Religion, Arabic, English, Science and mathematics exams while in school.
  • To motivate young people to be ready to develop themselves professionally at all times.
  • To help eliminate the problem of shortage of teachers inside and outside the province of Nungwi (Colleges and Schools).
  • Strengthening brotherhood between young people from different places.
  • To prepare good servants who are accepted in the society and who will respect justice based on the law.
  • Providing and developing young people in education that will enable them to be self-employed.
  • Giving aid to the state and property of social services. Example: food, health, water etc. for disadvantaged groups and people living in difficult circumstances such as the poor, orphans, widows, the elderly, the disabled, children and the sick;
  • To restore Islamic values ​​to the entire Nungwi community;
  • To collaborate with other communities with the same goals as this community in order to achieve the goals of the community and the development of Zanzibar in general;
